Pine Ridge
Pine Ridge is a full service hunting preserve located in the heart of game rich Barbour County. The land was purchased by my grandfather, the late Donald A. Dixon in 1952. Since then, family and friends have been the only people to have had the distinct privilege of hunting this property. We have recently decided to share this experience with other outdoorsman on a limited basis. In order to provide you our undivided attention and quality hunt that you expect, we limit the number of guest to four. In addition, we limit the number of hunting days per week to four, reducing stress on our wildlife.
Pine Ridge is located south of Wycott Plantation and north of Barbour Creek Plantation on County Road 79 near Clayton. We are fortunate to be surrounded by responsible landowners that share the same philosophy on managing habitat for wildlife in the area. Due to our remote location, it is seldom we hear the sounds associated with the modern day world. Although, the sounds of quail, turkey, frogs, crickets, and the wind blowing through the trees can be deafening.
Quail Hunting
Veteran wing shooters will be amazed on our bird hunts. Both early release and liberated birds will explode from the sagebrush and partridge peas and are certain to humble the best of shots. Our mature pine forests have been groomed to provide the best quail habitat possible. Our guides and their well trained pointers will locate covey after covey. If you choose to bring your own dogs, we have kennels available.
Turkey Hunting
It has often been said that if you can kill a turkey in Alabama, then you can kill them anywhere. We believe this is true due to the amount of pressure these birds are put under each and every year. Bama birds are very crafty and just darn hard to kill. If you are good enough to kill one, you have a real trophy, one that you should be proud of. Pine Ridge has an abundance of these wise old Toms and yes, they trick us regularly. Bow hunters will become absolutely invisible in our Primos (Vision) ground blinds. Our guides are fanatical about turkeys and will go above and beyond the call of duty to help you get your bird.
Deer Hunting
We began an intensive deer management program in 1995. The key to our success has been providing good nutrition and improving the age structure in order for bucks to reach their maximum potential. Another key has been adjoining landowner cooperation. Being surrounded by large private lands with landowners who have a strong desire to improve their deer herds has played a significant role in the improvement of the deer population in our area.
With over 25 food plots, numerous hard wood drains, creek bottoms, and 40 stands available for your choosing, the odds of bagging your trophy are great. Pine Ridge is a bow hunters dream come true. We use Old Man climbing stands or you may choose to bring your own and place it where you want.

Lodge
The Pine Ridge lodge was completed in 1998. The majority of lumber that was used in the construction was made from timber harvested on family lands. The remainder of the reclaimed wood came from my grandfather's childhood home. The Adirondack style furniture was purchased in upstate New York from designer Ralph Kylloe. Currently, there are over 50 wildlife mounts and numerous original paintings by local artist Eddie LeRoy. Other features include sporting collectibles and antique wooden signs.
