Bobwhite Quail

The Northern Bobwhite, Virginia Quail or (in its home range) Bobwhite Quail (Colinus virginianus) is a ground-dwelling bird  native to the United States, Mexico, and the Caribbean.This fowl primarily inhabits areas of early successional growth dominated by various species of pine, hardwood, woody, and herbaceous growth. Quail habitat varies greatly throughout its range which extends from Mexico east to Florida and north into the Upper Midwest and Northeast.

Quail Creek Plantation

Since the days of the first plantations, American sportsmen have known the true joys of pursuing bobwhite quail. The likes of Washington and Jefferson reveled at the sight of pointing dogs lacing back and forth across expansive fields, and the suspense of waling into the feathered whirlwind of a rising covey.

About Us

Past the concrete and the crowds is a special place where Florida still exists as nature meant for it to be. It is a landscape unchanged since the days of De Leon and Osceloa, where gnarled cypress rises up from virgin swamps and the uplands are carpeted with lush native grasses.

Lodging

If relaxation and comfort is what you are looking for, Quail Creek Plantation is your place. We have 10 cozy fully-equipped one bedroom cottages. Each of our dog-friendly cottages are equipped with wireless internet, flat-screened televisions, full bathrooms, and small kitchens with full-sized refrigerators and microwave ovens. Accommodations are available all year round.

Included in your stay is unlimited catch and release fishing on our private 14 acre lake. During non-hunting season (May-September), scenic buggy rides of our beautiful ranch can be scheduled. Please schedule buggy rides at least one week prior to your arrival.

Our newly constructed 64 seat dining room is now available. The attache screened in patio are can seat another 24 people. These dining areas are available for weddings, company functions, and parties.

Delicious southern style meals can also be added to your overnight stay.

Quail Hunt

Season is October 1, 2009 through March 19, 2010
Morning hunts begin at 7:30AM
Afternoon hunts begin at 1:30PM

Turkey Hunt

We appreciate your interest in turkey hunting at Quail Creek Plantation. We hunt the true wild and elusive Osceola gobblers under 100% chase conditions. The Spring turkey hunts include three nights stay with full accommodations for lodging and meals, two and one half days of hunting, guiding service, sporting clays, hog hunting, fishing, quail hunting and of course the harvesting of one Osceola gobbler for $3,000 (1,500 deposit required). Season begins the 3rd Saturday in March and runs for 6 weeks.

Pheasant Hunt

On a few select days, we host out continental pheasant tower shoots. 400 Ringneck pheasants and 300 wild pigeons will be released from an elevated tower surrounded by 12 shooting stations. The price of the hunt includes a day of wing shooting and fine dining consisting of a gourmet meal with assorted wines and beer served in the field on white china in the style of the classic safaris of the golden era.

Birds will be cleaned, packaged, chilled and made available to all shooters following the shoot.

Sporting Clays
